FieldTwin has always been a platform for innovation. A place where the world’s Energy operators can design, visualize and collaborate. Today, we reveal the latest update to FieldTwin Design that includes a suite of dedicated online applications designed to support the Entire Life of Field concept from design, installation, operation, maintenance and ultimately abandonment through digitalization.

Our new FieldTwin Design 6.3 release brings several new features to our subsea design and visualization platform. In addition to bug fixes and optimization some of the big features in this release include support for importing bathymetry from ArcGIS, Gradient visualization and new PreEngineering capabilities.

Import Bathymetry from ArcGIS

You can now import your bathymetry data directly from an ArcGIS server into your project. Whereas, previously, you had to extract bathymetry data from ArcGIS, wait for the file and then upload in FieldTwin Design, now you simply use the create button for ArcGIS service. Note: The ArcGIS server needs to have bathymetry data stored.

Gradients Visualisation

This new feature allows you to create a visualization of connection-related data sets. Simply select a connection, add visualization, import your data, such as pressure or temperature, to create visual effects on your connection visible through viewport.


The FieldTwin Design 6.3 release contains three key updates within its pre-engineering capability:

Wall Thickness

This module gives you the ability to quickly calculate an estimate of the wall thickness. This is needed for a pipeline to satisfy the burst and collapse design requirements of the API and DNVGL subsea pipeline design guidelines. As such, these estimations delivers greater confidence in the amount of steel needed for single wall rigid pipeline in the FieldTwin layouts.

Pipeline Span Estimator

The Span estimator tool will give you the ability to quickly detect which connection(s) might have significant spans along an uneven seabed terrain. By providing a more accurate estimate of the connection elevation along the pipeline route, you can help drive a better decision with flow assurance simulations that use the Span Estimator connection profile.

Crossing Detector

Our Crossing detection module will traverse the field network topology for the current project and list out all detected connection crossings. By creating a list with options you can directly navigate to each specific crossing point in the Viewport for review. As crossings usually are a costly endeavour this will allow you to quickly review all the detected crossings and also export the data if desired.

  • Disable / enable red outlines for disconnected connections
  • Copy paste metadata to segments
  • Store default value in metadata link
  • Initial support for ArcGIS online
  • Outline color for shapes
  • Added zoomAt to integration message
  • Better handling of ArcGIS layer with source projection different from project projection
  • Limit which layer to use for height sampling on connections, staged assets and wells
  • Export to SHP, connections and shapes
  • Ability to select a default asset for metadata type asset (including recursion)
  • Reintroduced animation for assets
